Fire Pits & Fireplaces

Coupled with landscape lighting, fire pits and fireplaces are the two best ways to extend the use of your patio and landscape. Even though the temperatures may stay warm through the summer months there is nothing better than cozying up to the fire pit to roast a s’more with your friends or family, or to crack a cold one to take the edge off after a long day at the office. Besides warmth as evenings cool down in the greater Toledo area, the greatest benefit of a fire pit or a fireplace is its ability to create a sense of community. I don’t know about you, but every time I have ever been around a fire I have become closer to those I spend that time with. We can’t deny that there is just something about that flame, whether from natural gas, propane or good ole wood, that brings us together and helps us relate to one another.

Fire pits come in many different shapes and sizes, with the most popular obviously being square, rectangle, or circular. The shape you decide to use will be determined by the number of people you typically have congregate around a fire. A circular Techo-Bloc fire pit can comfortably sit 4-6 people around it, whereas a custom rectangular fire pit could fit as many people as you like. The beauty of custom fire pits is that Warming Trends will actually custom make a propane or natural gas burner to fit your custom fire pit.

The difference between a fire pit and a fireplace is that a fireplace is a monolithic structure that requires a flue in order to draw smoke out of the fireplace. An outdoor fireplace is really no different than an indoor one besides the fact that it’s outside (I know, crazy right?!?). We don’t typically see fireplaces installed outdoors because they create a barrier to gathering. Where it’s easier to gather around a fire pit due to their circular or square or rectangular nature, a fireplace is something where people can typically only sit in a half circle which greatly reduces conversation. While this may be enjoyable to some people a fire pit will typically offer much more enjoyment of your Outdoor LIving Space for years to come!
