Why is landscape lighting important and what does it add to the landscape and the overall aesthetic of your home?

Landscape lighting is one of the few low cost but high impact improvements you can make to your home. Whether you want to deter burglars, invite guests or just increase the length of time you can enjoy your patio during the summer landscape lighting can accomplish all of these things. Multiple studies have shown that nearly 60% of all burglars interviewed have said that the presence of outdoor lighting and/or a security system have deterred them from breaking into homes. With a combination of up lighting on your home or your landscape plants, path lights along your walkways, and downlights from your soffits or your trees you can very easily deter burglars.

Adding lights to the front or entrance path of your home will not only help deter criminals, it can also make your home much more inviting to guests and friends who come over for whatever occasion you might be having. Lighting can also make it easier for your guests to find their way to their vehicles when leaving and could even guide them out of your driveway so they aren’t driving all over your beautiful lawn!

The most common reason for using landscape lighting is to increase the amount of time spent outdoors on your patio, deck, or outdoor living space.. While deterring criminals and welcoming guests is great, spending quality time with family and friends outdoors during the summer is the best reason to add landscape lighting to your home. Whether you have a simple patio or a full blown outdoor living space with seat walls, a kitchen, a pergola or pavilion or even more, landscape lighting can help you enjoy your space further into the evening during our few summer months!
